DaVita, a Fortune 500 provider of healthcare services with over 30,000 employees, and 1,400 clinics located in 43 states initiated this project to minimize support and reduce chaos arising from hundreds of SharePoint sites that were operating without governance, user training, or proper channels of end-user support escalation.
Gathered requirements, analyzed information architecture, developed and implemented successful governance plan defining roles and responsibilities within Strategy, Operations, Support, Development, and MVP Teams. Collaborated with business users; produced documentation, including governance plan, policies and procedures, roles and responsibilities, information architecture, global site navigation, and search strategy. Project - DaVita Corporation – MOSS 2007 Implementation
Project coals: 1) Plan, specify, provision, and configure a SharePoint server farm running MOSS 2007 Enterprise Edition. 2) Develop and implement MOSS 2007 customizations designed to facilitate governance and reduce support.
Met with management, business users, and IT Operations to determine capacity requirements. Performed analysis and specified network bandwidth, web-front-end and database server configuration, processors, disk space, memory, and operating system for farm servers. Specified application software needed for SharePoint development server. Installed, and configured MOSS 2007 on three web-front-end servers. Tutored DaVita employees in SharePoint UI customization to create corporate look and feel.
Project - DaVita Corporation – MOSS 2007 Customizations and Content Migration
Site Request and Automatic Site Provisioning
Developed custom site request with 2-stage approval workflow and an automatic site provisioning application featuring custom site templates, rules-based template selection, automatic enforcement of security and navigation policy, and automatic maintenance of farm-wide sites list used for governance. Developed custom support web part allowing users to request site owner support directly from each website.
MOSS 2007 Client Access License (CAL) Management
Developed custom Client Access License (CAL) management system with CAL request form and custom workflow that obtains supervisor approval and cost center information used by CAL purchasing process. Logical URL redirects non-CAL holders to an error page; allows Enterprise CAL holders access to all sites; prevents Standard CAL holders from accessing sites where Enterprise features are deployed; provides for tracking and re-assigning retired CALs.
Migrate Live SharePoint Content to MOSS Server Farm
Performed trial migration to development server to discover and migration issues. Resolved issues arising from site customizations and 3rd party web parts. Performed migration of live content. Accomplished migration of all content and customizations within the allotted time, retaining document version history, security settings, and permissions. Designed .NET 3.5 Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) application to consume live Request for Proposal data feeds and populate a pre-existing SQL Server database. Designed a web service to re-publish the data feeds to subscriber hotels.
Project - Billabong USA - MOSS 2007 Intranet/Internet Portal
Gathered requirements and determined site hierarchy, document metadata, global navigation, security, and search configuration for a MOSS 2007 portal used for development and provisioning of new retail stores and for distribution of point-of-sale graphic materials for an 80-store chain.
MOSS 2007 Customizations
Developed custom event handler and content types used to automatically populate custom metadata for store document libraries. Developed a custom web part for displaying store information from a central database on each store site home page. Developed event hander to automatically rollup store financial information to a portal level summary. Developed store calendar event handler that automatically rolls up individual store calendars to a master calendar. Developed custom picture library column used to automatically retrieve graphic files larger than 50mb from an FTP location.
Project - Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates - MOSS 2007 Intranet Portal
Responsible for installation and configuration of MOSS 2007 server farm, I performed initial implementation and customizations, including company employee directory, HR document repository, and team collaboration sites. Tasks included:
